Just an Italian vacationđź’Ś

The plan was never to move to Italy. The plan was never to fall in love with an Italian. The plan was to finally accept that I was single and could do whatever I wanted, where ever I wanted and with whoever I wanted. I was free and what better way to kick start my bachelorette phase, my freedom then to couch surf with a friend in Rome.

The vacation started in the states. I forgot to bid my last week of vacation, so my job plotted it for me! I had no intention of taking a week off in the winter, but here I was with 10 days off the first week of December. Unsure what I would do, I called up a good friend, who lived in Rome, and asked if I could crash on his couch for week. I’m a pretty good house guest so of course he agreed. Now that I have a place to stay,

I had been to Rome several times and knew what a pain in the butt it was to not have cell data. So after confirming my accommodations I made Tmobile my next stop. I had been a Verizon customer for years, but since they didnt have free international service, I decided I would change providers. I had been there, done that and knew there was no way I would be caught patronizing random business’s, just so I could check what was going on in the world. No more, I was over that. I was planning on tackling Italy in a new way.

Along with experiencing Rome like a local, I wanted to date. I wanted to be wined and dined. I wanted hear “ciao bella” from a plethora of tall, handsome, olive skinned men who would then take me out, maybe have one of them invite me back to their place. I wanted to experience it all. So of course I downloaded Tinder.

It all went better than I could’ve imagined. I discovered hidden gems of Rome, danced beneath the moon and the sun, had coffee after coffee with new friends and men. In 7 days I experienced more joy than I had in months, and at the end of it all I met a man who would change my life and perception of love.
